Abstract

The 2006 biography of Latife Uşşaki, the divorced wife of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, incited much attention in Turkey. The highly praised book reconstructed the short-lived marriage of two strong personalities on the basis of numerous facts. The strongly abridged German translation can only be recommended with great reservation, for it exhibits many deficits with regard to form and content.
